Lasagna Recipe

This was our first project for interaction design. We were to design a webpage around a recipe. I chose to use a lasagna recipe. The requirements for the webpage to get us to experience the basics of Dreamworks, were make a rollover image, text link, image map link, and image link. These links could be made up, so they were not relevant to the project. They were just there to teach us how to do it.

Concept Map

This was the first assignment for Junior Studio. We were to design a concept map that used information graphics, linking words, and framing sentences. There were several topics that we could chose from. I chose to design the product life cycle of a plastic water bottle. We were to include at least thirty terms, two kinds of information design, and must me 20x30 inches.

Image Analysis

This project was assigned to sum up what we learned the whole semester. We were to chose an image and analyze it. I broke my image down into certain elements that we learned about during the class presentations. For example there were elements of the Dada movement that were used or was inspired by. I decided to make a book to break up the parts of the image in hopes of making it easier to show the differences in the image with a zoomed in view.

History Presentation: Art Deco

In the Graphic Design History each person was assigned an era of design. Each presentation was to be around thirty minutes long. I was assigned to present on Art Deco starting from the early 1900s. I discussed the style, the history, the effects Art Deco had on society, important artists, and the relevance to graphic design. My presentation lasted around twenty-five to thirty minutes long.

Image Text Investigation

With this assignment we were assigned by our instructor a research paper. My topic was the history of the billboard. I was to research the history and write a five page paper about it. It was optional to design the paper with images or in a different form than the average paper. I chose to design a book that flipped up with images of billboards throughout time.

Identity Series

This was our last project in Graphic Design 2. We were assigned to design buttons for the Blanton Museum showcasing a certain style or movement of design. I chose to use Dada for my buttons. I designed five different buttons for different types of guests. Such as a members, students, adults/seniors, youth/children, and UT Austin students. We were also asked to design a poster to showcase the buttons around the museum.

Locating Place Part 2

This was the second half of our Locating Place project. We were required to make a book, picking from several different forms, and to use text by Kevin Lynch. I chose to sew my book together in signatures with a hard cover. I also chose to compare and contrast East Austin to East Dallas. With this concept I made my book with pages with cut outs to show the differences between the two.

Locating Place Part 1

This was the first half of our Locating Place project. We were required to go to a certain part of East Austin to take pictures. Then we took the pictures and made them into an interactive motion piece. My concept was to separate and compare old East Austin, new East Austin and the culture of East Austin.

Activity Booklet

This was our last project in Advanced typography. We were assigned to make an activity booklet to teach young kids about fair trade cocoa. The parameters were that we could only use two spot colors throughout our book and it had to include, the raw text given to us, pictures, and maps. I have attached a link for the option of seeing the full book.

Here is a link to the full spreads.

Instructional Design

This was our second Graphic Design 2 project. We were to pick an action, from a list given to us, and design instructions on how to perform this certain action. The action that I chose was how to make a peanut-butter and jelly sandwich. With this topic I chose to design it for kids, and I decided to make it into a book. You can see the full spreads on the link that I have below.
